WS Jaycees' Chili Cook-off For Lake Waccamaw

Winston-Salem Jaycees

The Chili Cook-off for Lake Waccamaw Boys and Girls home will be held on Sunday, January 29th, 2017 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The cost to enter the chili competition will be $8.00 per entry, which includes tasting. There will be four categories: Vegetarian, Spicy, Unique, and Best Overall! Guests will gather to taste and judge a chili cook-off. For tasting attendees, the entry fee is $10.00, which includes tastings of all chili competition entries. Chili competitors are asked to cook in advance and bring cooked chili to event site. Chili will be kept heated at event site. Competitors will also be asked to bring a copy of their recipe with them to the competition. We will award certificates to the three winners and a larger gift to the "best overall" chili who will be the grand champion. 100% of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to the North Carolina Jaycees Girls Cottage at Lake Waccamaw. This cottage houses teenage girls who have been removed from their families for many reasons including poverty, death of their parents, or domestic violence. These young women may reside at the cottage for a short while during the time their family receives support or they may reside at the cottage until they turn 18 and enter the workforce or college. All of the chapters of Jaycees in North Carolina contribute financially to assist this girls' cottage all year long. Donations may be in the form of donated items such as sports equipment, school supplies, or other recreational equipment like computer software or music CDs. In addition, the North Carolina Jaycees donate over $30,000 to help the house pay for essentials including utilities, bedding, and kitchen supplies. http://www.wsjaycees.org/ https://www.wsjaycees.org/chililakewaccamaw/
