Registration is OPEN for our next Nutrition Cooking Workshop on Saturday, January 21st from 10am - 2pm! RSVP is required. Call 336-760-9983 or email us at csi1955@cancerservicesonline.org. Priority is given to GYN cancer survivors! Because of a grant from Athena s Run for GYN Cancers, the workshop is offered at no charge to survivors! Hooray - Chef Malena is making a special trip back to W-S just to help me co-teach this workshop! Check out Chef Malena s recipe demonstration that she recently did for a news spot in DC! http: www.wusa9.com entertainment television programs great-day-washington cooking-with-healthy-indian-spices 381962123 The goals of our program include: - increase knowledge about nourishing food choices for treatment and beyond - lower your intimidation around cooking - learn cooking techniques you can apply to other foods recipes - be introduced to new foods - Don t Worry, Be Happy, Have FUN!! The recipes we will learn are TBD but Chef Malena always chooses great ones! Here are some of the recipes she has done for previous workshops! Homemade Waffles 2-Ingredient Biscuits with Sweet Potato Butter and Blueberry Compote Roasted Sweet Potato Salad with Ginger Vinaigrette Sweet Potato Mac and Cheese Savory Sweet Potato Dip Sweet Potato Smoothie Homemade Hummus Sauteed Asparagus with Apples Moroccan Spiced Apples with Pita Grilled Apple and Kale Salad Caramel Dip A really great part of this program is that participants get to take home ingredients to make several of the recipes at home! Here s what a past participant had to say: I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the Cooking Workshop with Chef Malena. I have made three of the recipes and plan to make another one this weekend. So far, my favorite is the Winter Veggie Salad with Rosemary Balsamic vinaigrette. I have made it twice now and turned it into Salad in a Jar. I really hope you can have the class again so others can attend. Seeing and trying the recipes made all the difference in the world.
